Manchester United are eyeing up a move Lille youngster Carlos Baleba
According to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are among the many clubs that are eyeing up a move for Lille youngster Carlos Baleba.
Top Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are also having a close look at the 19-year-old. Although they think he might be a little raw, the potential is there to go a long way in the coming years.
Baleba was at the Cameroonian club Brasseries before joining the Lille youth side in January 2022. He made his senior debut this season, playing 421 minutes in all competitions so far.
The youngster is a central midfielder who can operate as a defensive midfielder if required. He possesses excellent pace for coverage of ground in the middle of the park. Along with that, he is a secure passer of the ball, can dribble past people in tight spaces and is physically strong.
At his age, there is a rawness to his game, but that is understandable. The more the 19-year-old plays, the better he would get.
From United’s viewpoint, we know they are in need of a few additions in the coming summer window. Erik ten Hag has earmarked Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as his primary target.
Manchester Evening News reported that the club would be looking to sign a right-back, a goalkeeper and a young midfielder. Baleba could fit the bill for the latter.
Let’s hope that by the time the transfer window starts, the club has completed the owner takeover procedure and there are no hiccups at that time of the year.
