Manchester United hold ‘internal discussions’ regarding Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister
Manchester United have held ‘internal discussions’ about signing Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
In the upcoming transfer window, the Red Devils will look to bring in a midfielder to bolster the engine room. To that end, the Argentina international is being considered as an option.
The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Seagulls expires in the summer of 2025. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested in him.
Mac Allister joined the East Sussex-based club in January 2019. In the previous campaign, the midfielder established himself as a regular first-team player at the Amex Stadium side.
This season, the Argentine has taken his game to the next level. In 23 appearances in all competitions, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net eight times and has provided one assist.
Mac Allister also raised his stock with some impressive performances in the 2022 World Cup. The 24-year-old was a pivotal member of Lionel Scalonis XI in Qatar. La Albiceleste went on to lift the prestigious trophy, with the midfielder giving an assist in the final.
In the summer of 2022, United added Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to their midfield ranks. The two immediately became important players for Erik ten hag’s plans in Manchester.
However, we evidently lack depth in the middle of the park. The Red Devils signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich on deadline day in the previous transfer window.
