Arsenal ‘favourites’ to sign Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Premier League rivals Arsenal are ‘favourites’ to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Italian outlet Rai via Tutto Napoli (h/t Mirror).
Along with the Red Devils, a number of clubs in Europe are eyeing the Nigeria international. However, the Gunners are leading the race to acquire his services at the moment.
Another team from the English top flight, Chelsea, have been linked with the 24-year-old’s signature as well. On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain are also a possible destination for the striker.
However, the Partenopei are expected to demand a hefty fee to part ways with Osimhen. The Serie A outfit value him at around £133 million, which would make it a British transfer record.
At the moment, only the ‘big clubs’ are speaking with the Nigerian’s camp. He has been in mesmerising form this season. The forward is the outright top goal-scorer in the Italian league.
In the current campaign, the Naples-based club are on course to win their first Scudetto in over 30 years. Their striker has found the back of the net 21 times in 26 appearances in all competitions.
Mikel Arteta’s team are flying high in the PL. They are at the top of the league table. However, in the absence of Gabriel Jesus, the North London side have had to rely on Eddie Nketiah, who has not been prolific enough.
As for United, Marcus Rashford has shouldered the burden of our attack this season. None of the other forwards in the team has contributed considerably enough. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst have been underwhelming as the only natural strikers in the squad.
