Aston Villa line up big bid to sign Manchester United target playing in Rome

Aston Villa line up £40 million move for Manchester United target and AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham

Premier League rivals Aston Villa are lining up a £40 million move for Manchester United target and AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham, according to Forza Roma (h/t The Sun).

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in the upcoming transfer window. However, the Villans are also in the race for the striker and are scouting him.

Unai Emery admires the England international. Having sold Danny Ings to West Ham United in the previous transfer window, the Birmingham-based club are eyeing a number nine.

Abraham has previously had a spell on loan at Villa. In the 2018/19 season, the forward was key for the Villans as they secured promotion to the English top flight from the Championship.

Subsequently, Frank Lampard gave the 25-year-old an opportunity to establish himself in Chelsea’s first team, which he took with both hands. However, with the English manager’s departure, the striker drastically fell down the pecking order.

Having moved to Roma in the summer of 2021, Abraham thrived in his debut season in Italy. However, the England international has struggled in the current campaign at the Giallorossi.

The Serie A outfit are fighting for a place in the top four this term. If the Italian side are unable to make it into a Champions League spot, Jose Mourinho could depart, and the 25-year-old striker could follow suit.

Erik ten Hag has limited options up top at the moment. Anthony Martial has been injury prone for most of the season. Wout Weghorst has featured a lot in the former AS Monaco star’s absence. But he is only on loan at the club.
