Manchester United to ‘battle’ Atletico Madrid for AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala
Manchester United are set to ‘battle’ Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for the signature of AS Roma star Paulo Dybala, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
A number of clubs have been linked with acquiring the services of the 29-year-old. The Argentina international has a €12 million release clause in his current contract.
Therefore, the Red Devils and Los Rojiblancos see the forward as a cheap signing to bolster their attack. Several teams have been associated with him due to the low price tag.
In the summer of 2022, Dybala joined the Giallorossi as a free agent. The 29-year-old moved to Rome after spending several years at Juventus, where he had a relatively fruitful spell.
Having made his way to Turin in 2015, the Argentine national immediately became their talisman. He lifted several trophies with the Old Lady. However, towards the end of the forward’s spell with the Bianconeri, he suffered injuries.
But at Roma, Dybala seems to have found his feet once again. Under Jose Mourinho, the Argentina international has made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.
The 29-year-old also went on to lift the World Cup with La Albiceleste. Although he was not Lionel Sacaloni’s first choice in Qatar, the forward came off the bench on a number of occasions as they beat France in the final.
At United, the forward line could seemingly do with more depth and quality. On the right wing, Antony is the only decent option at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. Also, the Dutch manager has only two natural strikers in Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst.

Thus, it would evidently not be a bad thing to have someone of Dybala’s quality in the squad. The Argentine’s release clause makes him a compelling buy. But it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will pursue the 29-year-old next summer and fend off Atletico.
