Athletico Paranaense forward and Manchester United target Vitor Roque dreams of Barcelona move
Manchester United target and Athletico Paranaense youngster Vitor Roque has revealed that he dreams of playing for Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Red Devils, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal, have scouted the 18-year-old. Also, the forward has attracted interest from Chelsea after putting in some impressive performances for both club and country.
However, speaking to Sport (h/t Mirror), Roque feels he is ready to play for the Blaugrana. The youngster aspires to put on the blues and red jersey of the La Liga outfit.
“It is not only a dream of mine but also of any player. If I end up going to Barca, it will be a great joy for my family and for me. For this reason, I have to continue working hard and hope that everything will come to fruition over time.”
Barcelona are the frontrunners for the 18-year-old’s signature. They have already held negotiations with the higher-ups at the Brasileirao outfit for the youngster.
The Brazil U20 international has been dubbed ‘the next Luis Suarez’. His performances for Athletico Paranaense have impressed many and the forward also shone for his national side at the South American under-20 Championship.
Xavi currently has a host of talent at his disposal. The Camp Nou side signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich and Raphinha from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.
The Spanish giants also have the likes of Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres in their ranks. However, some of the La Liga outfit’s attackers have been misfiring of late.
United’s front line evidently is in need of a number nine. Also, we seemingly need to add more depth up top, with Anthony Martial being unavailable for most of the season due to fitness issues. We also have Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley until the end of the season. Marcus Rashfor has led the line this term.
