Tottenham Hotspur open talks with Harry Kane over new contract amidst Manchester United interest
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have ‘opened talks’ with Harry Kane over a new contract amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 29-year-old’s existing deal with the North London side expires in the summer of 2024. As a result, the Red Devils are eyeing the England international’s signature.
At the moment, the Old Trafford side are monitoring the striker’s situation at Spurs. However, it remains to be seen whether he will put pen to paper on new terms in the coming months.
Kane made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham. After a few underwhelming loan spells away, the 29-year-old broke out in the 2014/15 season for the Lilywhites.
Since then, the England international has not looked back. He has been consistently finding the back of the net for Spurs over the years. The striker has also led the line and captained the Three Lions in various major tournaments.
In the current campaign, Kane has once again been a reliable goal-scorer. The 29-year-old has carried the North London side’s attack, while other forwards have been unreliable under Antonio Conte this season.

At United, Erik ten Hag has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal for the number nine position. The France international has been unavailable for a majority of the games under Erik ten Hag.
As a result, the gaffer has deployed Marcus Rashfrd as the striker on a number of occasions. The 25-year-old has done well and is in red-hot form in front of goal. However, the English national has been the only forward to contribute considerably up front.

Therefore, we evidently need more firepower in the attack. Hopefully, Tottenham are unable to convince Kane and he instead opts to move to the Theatre of Dreams next summer.
