Manchester United midfielder Casemiro named in FIFPRO Team of the Year
Manchester United and former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has been named in the FIFPRO Team of the Year, via the club’s official website.
From a shortlist of 26 players, the Brazil international made it to the organisation’s World XI. Various players voted for stars who they think deserve to be honoured for their performances between 8 August, 2021 to 18 December, 2022.
The 31-year-old was with Los Blancos last season. With the Spanish giants, the defensive midfielder won La Liga and the Champions League.

Subsequently, the Red Devils came knocking for Casemiro’s signature in the summer of 2022 and signed him. In the current campaign, the Brazilian has been pivotal for the Old Trafford side.
Initially, Erik ten Hag slowly integrated the 31-year-old into the starting lineup. Scott McTominay was being chosen ahead of the five-time UCL winner in the team.
However, since Casemiro’s first start in the Premier League against Everton in October, he has not looked back. The 31-year-old has put in several Man of the Match performances for United over the last few months.
The Brazil international was also a key player for his national side in the 2022 World Cup. But Tite’s team lost to Croatia in the quarter-finals in the penalty shootout.
Alongside Christian Eriksen in the middle of the park, the former Madrid star has been the gaffer’s preferred option. He has made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals while also providing five assists and has brought tenacity and robustness to our engine room.

Casemiro has been one of the best pieces of business the Red Devils have done in quite some time. Hopefully, after the Carabao Cup win, the 31-year-old will help us achieve other major titles during his stay in Manchester.
