Manchester United have sent scouts to Portugal to watch SL Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos
Manchester United have sent scouts to Portugal to watch SL Benfica star Goncalo Ramos, with the club keen on a striker in the upcoming transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on YouTube.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form for the Eagles in the current campaign. However, the centre-forward has a €120 million release clause in his current contract with the Primeira Liga outfit.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Ramos. The Parisians were looking to acquire his services in the summer of 2022. Apart from them, a number of other clubs also appreciate the Portugal international.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that the Red Devils were tracking the 21-year-old. The Old Trafford side have been following him in the Primeira Liga.
“Also, they (Man United) are following Goncalo Ramos from Benfica. He is a player they are tracking. They are keeping an eye on many players.
“For Ramos, they sent their scouts in Portuguese league games to monitor this player.”
Ramos made his way through the youth ranks at Benfica. In the previous campaign, he broke into the senior squad. But back then, Darwin Nunez was the talisman at the club.
With the Uruguayan’s departure to Liverpool last summer, the 21-year-old has taken the mantle this season. The Portugal international also caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances in the 2022 World Cup.
In the current campaign, the striker has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Primeira Liga outfit. He has found the back of the net 19 times and has provided eight assists.
United have had to rely on Marcus Rashford to shoulder the burden of the attack under Erik ten Hag. Apart from the 25-year-old, none of our other forwards has contributed considerably in the final third.
