Manchester United join Real Madrid in the race for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund
Spanish giants Real Madrid have been joined by Manchester United in the race for the signature of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to Tipsbladet (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are ‘interested’ in signing the 20-year-old from the Serie A outfit. However, the Denmark U21 international has been linked with a move to Los Blancos in recent weeks.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Old Trafford side are expected to sign a striker. It remains to be seen whether the Manchester-based club will pursue the youngster in the coming months.
Madrid have Karim Benzema in their forward line at the moment. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has been the Spanish giants’ talisman over the years.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team seem to lack quality in depth up top. Mariano Diaz is the only natural striker in Los Blancos’ ranks. The La Liga outfit also have the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Marci Asensio at their disposal in the attack.
Hojlund joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 for €17 million from Austrian Bundesliga club Sturm Graz. The 20-year-old has quickly established himself in La Dea’s first team.

Gian Piero Gasperini has counted on the Danish national to lead the Italian outfit’s line. The youngster has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
United lost Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the season. The Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January to bolster the forward line. Erik ten Hag also has Anthony Martial in his ranks. Unfortunately, the former AS Monaco star has been on the sidelines for most of the campaign.
