Anthony Martial could leave Manchester United amidst West Ham United interest
France international Anthony Martial could be on his way out of the club amidst interest from West Ham United, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on TEAMtalk (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 27-year-old will be “one to watch” in the upcoming transfer window. David Moyes’ team “have really liked the player in the past”. Also, a move back to AS Monaco “is not unthinkable either”.
It is a “shame” for Martial as people at the Old Trafford side like him. However, fitness issues “might well provoke a move” away from Manchester for the French national.

The 27-year-old signed for Man United in the summer of 2015. After a bright start to life with the Red Devils, the forward struggled to maintain consistency.
However, in the 2019/20 season, it seemed like Martial had finally found his feet in Manchester. Unfortunately, since then, things have gone a bit downhill for the striker.
In the previous campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick hardly counted on him. As a result, the 27-year-old joined Sevilla on loan in January last year. But he struggled in Spain as well.

Upon the French national’s return to the Old Trafford side, he was impressive during pre-season under Erik ten Hag. However, injuries have hampered the former Monaco star’s campaign.
West Ham are currently struggling in the Premier League, having caught a lot of people’s attention last term. Summer 2022 signing Gianluca Scammaca has not hit the ground running. Michail Antonio has also been underwhelming. However, they did sign Danny Ings in January.

As for United, we have not been able to count on Martial on a consistent basis. Marcus Rashford is the one who has shouldered the burden of our attack this term. Therefore, the French national’s departure will evidently not have much bearing if a quality striker is signed next summer.
