Alejandro Garnacho set to sign new five-year contract at Manchester United
Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho is set to sign a new five-year contract at the Old Trafford side and extend his stay, according to ESPN.
The Argentina U20 international’s existing deal with the Red Devils will expire in the summer of 2024. However, the Manchester-based club have reached an agreement over financial terms with the 18-year-old.
But Man United are yet to finalise a few things before the youngster puts pen to paper. Some aspects regarding the forward’s image rights have not been settled.
Garnacho’s new contract will see his salary adjusted as per his growing status in Erik ten Hag’s plans. The 18-year-old’s wages will see progressive growth as his influence in the Dutch manager’s team expands.
The Argentine national and the Red Devils are keen on making things official soon. An announcement regarding the same could come in the next few weeks.
Ten Hag gave the youngster his full debut in the 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League group stages earlier in the campaign. Since then, the forward’s stature in the squad has grown.
Garnacho has put in some clutch performances this season. Against the likes of Fulham, Manchester City and Leeds United in the Premier League, he has been impressive. This season, the forward has made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
The 18-year-old has emerged as a brilliant understudy for Marcus Rashford on the left wing. The England international has been in fine form for the Old Trafford side this term.
