Manchester United are interested in a summer move for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram
Borussia Monchengladbach star Marcus Thuram will be pursued by Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window, according to Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have made ‘suggestions’ of interest in the France international. Next summer, the 25-year-old’s current contract is set to expire. Therefore, the striker will be available on a free transfer in the coming months.
However, apart from the Old Trafford side, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also in the race for Thuram’s signature. European giants Inter Milan and Bayern Munich are also looking to acquire the forward’s services.
The France international made his way to Die Fohlen in the summer of 2019. Since then, the 25-year-old has been a key player for the Bundesliga outfit.
But in the current campaign, Thuram has thrived. Daniel Farke has opted to deploy the French national through the middle rather than out wide. As a result, in 21 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 13 goals and has provided four assists.
The forward also made it into Didier Deschamps’ 2022 World Cup squad. Les Bleus made it to the final but lost to Argentina in the penalty shootout.
At the moment, Man United have Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only natural number nines in the squad. However, the former AS Monaco star has been injury prone this season. On the other hand, the Holland international is on loan from Burnley.
Marcus Rashford has had to be relied on by Erik ten Hag to consistently find the back of the net in the current campaign. The 25-year-old has been the Red Devils’ talisman under the Dutch manager.
