Manchester United and Newcastle United showing ‘the first signs’ of interest in AS Roman forward Paulo Dybala
Manchester United, along with Premier League rivals Newcastle United, are showing ‘the first sign’ of interest in AS Roma star Paulo Dybala, according to Calciomercato (h/t Express).
The 29-year-old joined the Giallorossi as a free agent in the summer of 2022. His current contract includes a modest £10.7 million release clause for foreign clubs.
Italian sides will have to part ways with around £18 million to get a hold of the Argentina international’s signature. However, the forward could opt to remove the release clause and increase his pay with the Rome-based club.
In the current campaign, the Magpies are regaining their former reputation. After years of struggle in English football, the Tyneside outfit have thrived this season.
Eddie Howe has turned things around in a short span of time at St James’ Park. They are currently fourth in the league table. The English head coach can call upon the likes of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak up top.
As for the Red Devils, our forward line evidently lacks a quality number nine. Anthony Martial has been injury prone in the current campaign, while Wout Weghorst is on loan at the club until the end of the season.
Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. The 25-year-old is the club’s leading goal-scorer this term and has had to be deployed as the striker on several occasions.
Dybala made a name for himself at Palermo before joining Juventus. The 2022 World Cup winner played as a centre-forward for most of his time with the Old Lady. The 29-year-old thrived for much of his time in Turin.
