Arsenal join Manchester United in race for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries
Premier League rivals Arsenal have ‘joined’ Manchester United in the race for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t The Sun).
The Gunners are interested in acquiring the 26-year-old’s services. Mikel Arteta’s team are currently deploying Ben White as the first-choice right-back. But the England international is naturally a central defender.
However, the North London side also have Takehiro Tomiyasu in their ranks. The Japan international has found game time hard to come by in the current campaign, with the Emirates Stadium side surprisingly challenging for the English top-flight title.
At the moment, the Nerazzurri need to make around £53 million in the upcoming transfer window to balance their books. Dumfries is seen as someone who could command a decent fee.
The Holland international signed for the Serie A giants in the summer of 2021. Since then, the full-back has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
In the current campaign, the 26-year-old has again been pivotal for Inter. He has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Apart from United, Chelsea are also eyeing Dumfries’ signature. Graham Potter’s team have Reece James at their disposal. The England international is one of the best full-backs in the world.
The Red Devils can call upon Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Portugal international is Erik ten Hag’s preferred option at right-back. As a result, the former Crystal Palace star has fallen down the pecking order.

At the moment, Dalot has cemented his place in the starting lineup at the Old Trafford side. Therefore, a move for an established player like Dumfries does not make sense, with the Portuguese doing an adequate job at right-back.
