Sevilla ‘interested’ in Manchester United centre-back and Sweden international Victor Lindelof
Spanish outfit Sevilla are ‘interested’ in signing Manchester United star and Sweden international Victor Lindelof, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 28-year-old could be one of the several players the Red Devils could look to part ways with next summer. However, it remains to be seen whether the centre-back will move away in the upcoming transfer window.
Jorge Sampaoli’s team are struggling in La Liga this season. The Andalusian club can call upon the likes of Karim Rekik, Loic Bade and Marcao to play as central defenders.
In the previous campaign, Julen Lopetegui had the likes of Diego Carlos and Jules Kounde at his disposal. However, the Spanish manager struggled to replace the two this season and was eventually sacked.
Lindelof moved to the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. After taking a year to settle in, the Swedish national became a regular in the Manchester-based club’s starting lineup.
Over the years, the 27-year-old has been a key player for various managers at United. However, last term, the defender saw his game time dwindle with the arrival of Raphael Varane.
Now, with the addition of Lisandro Martinez in the summer of 2022, Lindelof has been relegated to the bench. The Argentina international has formed a solid partnership in the backline with the former Real Madrid star under Erik ten Hag.
As a result, the Swedish national, along with Harry Maguire, has hardly gotten any opportunities since the Dutch manager’s arrival. The two have seen their influence at the Old Trafford side decrease.
