Real Madrid and Liverpool join race for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Spanish giants Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race for Napoli star Victor Osimhen, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward line next summer. And the Nigeria international is one of the names that has been earmarked by the Old Trafford side.
However, the Manchester-based club will have to compete with some big names. Los Blancos have had Karim Benzema as their talisman since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
However, the 35-year-old is backed up by Mariano Diaz, who has been underwhelming over the years. Apart from the French national, Carlo Ancelotti’s team also have the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Marco Asensio at their disposal in the attack.
As for Jurgen Klopp’s team, they signed Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2022 from SL Benfica. But the Uruguay international has found life difficult in England up until now. The Merseyside outfit also added Cody Gakpo to their ranks in January.
Liverpool already have Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz to call upon as well. But their forwards have not lived up to expectations this season.
Erik ten Hag currently has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only two natural number nines in the squad. The former AS Monaco star has been unavailable for most of the campaign due to fitness issues. On the other hand, the Burnley loanee is with the Red Devils only until the end of the season.
Marcus Rashford has had to shoulder the burden of our attack this term. Therefore, we evidently need an out-and-out goalscorer in the team.

Osimhen has been brilliant for Napoli in the current campaign. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net 18 times in 22 appearances in all competitions this season. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be able to beat the likes of Madrid and Liverpool to his signature.
