Inter Milan will ‘consider’ Alessandro Bastoni sale amidst Manchester United interest
Serie A giants Inter Milan will ‘consider’ the sale of Alessandro Bastoni next summer amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail).
The Nerazzurri fear that the Italy international could become a problem for them due to his contract situation. At the moment, the 23-year-old’s deal at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side expires in 2024.
Inter are looking to secure Bastoni’s future. While the Italy international is keen on extending his stay with the Nerazzurri, they are yet to find an agreement on new terms. Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the defender.
The 23-year-old is demanding a salary of around £4.4 million per year. However, Simone Inzaghi’s team are yet to accept the centre-backs’ request.
Inter currently have the likes of Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij in their ranks as well. However, both defenders are expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
At United, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have formed a formidable partnership. Erik ten Hag has preferred the duo in his backline this season.
The Argentina international signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 from Ajax. He has been a revelation in the English top flight, with the 25-year-old becoming an instant fan favourite.
As a result, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have lost their place in the Old Trafford side’s starting lineup in the current campaign. The England and Sweden internationals have found game time hard to come by under the new gaffer.

Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if the two decided to leave the club for opportunities elsewhere. In that case, having an eye on someone like Bastoni to bolster the defence is a good option. The 23-year-old is a young and talented defender with many years at the top.
