Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United linked with Youri Tielemans free transfer
Manchester United, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United, have been linked with a move for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.
The Belgium international’s current contract with the Foxes expires at the end of the season. As a result, the 25-year-old will be available on a free transfer.
He is expected to leave the East Midlands club. The midfielder has made it clear to the King Power Stadium side that he is not keen on an extension.
In a column for Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News), CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs revealed the three English top-flight teams eyeing Tielemans’ signature.
“Arsenal still haven’t ruled out signing him on a free transfer. They were reluctant to pay a transfer fee over the past two windows, but now the Belgian midfielder is a bargain. Newcastle also really like Tielemans and Manchester United are ones to watch as well.”
The Belgium international made his way to Leicester in January 2019. Since then, the midfielder has developed into one of the best box-to-box players in the PL.
In the current campaign, the Foxes are looking to secure themselves from relegation. However, the 25-year-old has still shown glimpses of his quality in a struggling team.
Arsenal are currently top of the table in the league. The Gunners have the likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Jorginho in the middle of the park. On the other hand, Newcastle are on the rise as well. However, Bruno Guimaraes is seemingly the only quality midfielder at Eddie Howe’s disposal.
At Man United, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are backed up by the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay. In the absence of the 30-year-old and the Denmark international, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star struggled in the engine room against Leeds United in our previous fixture.

Our bench evidently requires more quality in depth. Tielemans has the talent to play for any top side. However, will the Belgian move to the Old Trafford side on a free transfer? Only time will tell.
