Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, has stated that Victor Osimhen is “not for sale” amidst interest from Manchester United in the Nigeria international.

Erik ten Hag has the 24-year-old on his shortlist to bolster the forward line next summer. Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane is also being eyed by the Red Devils.

At the moment, the former LOSC Lille striker is in fine form. As a result, a number of top clubs around Europe are looking to acquire his services.

However, speaking to BILD via the Daily Mail (h/t Manchester Evening News), De Laurentiis is not keen on parting ways with any of his superstars, including Osimhen.

“I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale. Our players are in demand, but I don’t have to sell anyone. We don’t have any debts.”

The Nigerian joined the Naples-based club in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has been a key player for them. However, the forward has taken his game to the next level this season.

Napoli are at the top of the table in Serie A at the moment. They are on course to win their first Scudetto in 33 years. The 24-year-old has been pivotal for Luciano Spalletti’s team in the current campaign, scoring 17 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions.

United lost Cristiano Ronaldo just before the start of the 2022 World Cup. Subsequently, the Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan as a short-term replacement to fill the void the 38-year-old’s departure left in the squad.

Erik ten Hag also has Anthony Martial at his disposal. But the France international has struggled with injuries this term. Therefore, the Dutch manager has had to rely on Marcus Rashford to lead the line and consistently find the back of the net.

Therefore, the Old Trafford side evidently need a quality number nine. Osimhen is showing his goal-scoring prowess at Napoli. Hopefully, the Nigerian is the one who the club decide to bring to the Theatre of Dreams next summer.
