Manchester United and Liverpool will ‘send scouts’ to watch PSV Eindhoven centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite
Manchester United, along with Premier League rivals Liverpool, will ‘send scouts’ to watch PSV Eindhoven centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, according to the Daily Mail (h/t The Sun).
The 20-year-old is attracting the eyes of the Red Devils and Jurgen Klopp’s team. Being a left-footed centre-back, he is piquing the interest of the two English top-flight giants.
As a result, the Old Trafford side and the Merseysiders will keep monitoring the English national’s progress in the Netherlands. Serie A outfit Roma are also looking to acquire the youngster’s services.
Branthwaite is on loan at PSV from Everton at the moment. His current contract at the Goodison Park side expires in the summer of 2025.
The Toffees could be convinced to part ways with the English national if they lose their PL status. They are currently languishing in a relegation battle in the league.
In the current campaign, the 20-year-old has been a key player for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team after finding game time hard to come by at Everton over the years. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Red and Whites, scoring three goals.
Liverpool are struggling this season. Klopp’s team have looked underwhelming in every area of the pitch. However, their centre-backs have struggled a lot, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate not looking sharp. Other defenders like Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips leave a lot to be desired as well.
As for United, we have a lot of strength in depth in our backline. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been Erik ten Hag’s preferred partnership. As a result, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been reduced to bench roles.

Therefore, if our captain or the Sweden international decided to leave for more opportunities, the Red Devils would evidently need to find replacements. Branthwaite’s age and potential make him a wise option to consider for the future.
