West Ham United rejected £100 million bid from Manchester United for Declan Rice last summer
Premier League rivals West Ham United rejected a £100 million offer from Manchester United for Declan Rice in the summer of 2022.
The Red Devils were eyeing a move for the 24-year-old last summer. However, the Hammers did not seem keen to part ways with the England international.
Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News), host Jim White revealed the Old Trafford side’s failed attempt at acquiring Rice’s services. Now, a number of clubs in the English top flight are targeting the West Ham captain. However, he will cost £120 million plus add-ons.
“We understand that Manchester United last summer bid £100m and didn’t get him. Chelsea, Arsenal and United are still in the frame. That’s what it would take £120m, plus add-ons.”
Chelsea had the 24-year-old on their books as a youngster before he moved to the East London side. Graham Potter was given the signing of Enzo Fernandez in the previous transfer window.
As for Arsenal, they are currently at the top of the Premier League. The Gunners got Jorginho from the Blues last month to provide cover for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
On the other hand, while Man United failed in the pursuit of Rice’s signature, we bought Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Brazil international has been a difference maker in the number six position for the Red Devils this season.
Along with the 30-year-old, Christian Eriksen has also been a revelation at the Old Trafford side. The Denmark international has formed an exception duo with Casemiro for the Manchester-based club/
West Ham have struggled in the current campaign. Their captain has been one of the best midfielders in the PL for some time now. The 24-year-old showed his quality for the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup.

Therefore, any top team could evidently do with a player of Rice’s quality. While Man United have quality in the engine room, we do not have a young superstar like the 24-year-old in the middle of the park. But it remains to be seen whether we will make a move for the Hammers’ captain.
