Manchester United ‘aiming’ to sell Anthony Martial in the upcoming transfer window
Anthony Martial has been listed as transferable by Manchester United ahead of next summer as the club look for a long-term striker, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils ‘aiming’ to sell the 27-year-old. Alongside the France international, the Old Trafford side are also open to parting ways with captain Harry Maguire and on-loan full-back Alex Telles.
Martial was put up for sale prior to his recent injury setback last week. The French national scored on his return against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. However, the forward subsequently was unavailable for the win over Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old has been hampered by fitness issues this season. He has missed 20 of United’s 34 games in all competitions in the current campaign. The striker has also not played the full 90 minutes in any game since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
Martial’s current contract at the Old Trafford side expires in the summer of 2024. Although, the Red Devils have the option to extend it by a further year.
The Dutch manager is keen on bringing an out-and-out goalscorer in the upcoming transfer window. As a result, United have an eye on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.
There are other options the Manchester-based club are monitoring. Ten Hag admires Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos. Mohammed Kudus, who the gaffer managed at Ajax last season, is also liked.
Martial has been unreliable in the current campaign. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, Wout Weghorst was signed on loan by the club to bolster the front line.
