Leeds United sack Jesse Marsch ahead of double-header against Manchester United

Premier League rivals Leeds United have sacked Jesse Marsch as their head coach ahead of their double-header against Manchester United in the English top-flight, according to the Manchester Evening News senior football writer George Smith on Twitter.

The Peacocks will visit Old Trafford on Wednesday (8 February). Subsequently, the West Yorkshire-based cub will welcome the Red Devils on Sunday (12 February).

However, Leeds will be without their American manager to lead them into the fixtures. The former RB Leipzig head coach had a hard time during his stint in West Yorkshire.

The Peacocks are fighting relegation once again in the current campaign. Last season, the Elland Road side went through a similar period where they struggled.

Subsequently, Marcelo Bielsa was relieved of his duties at Leeds and was replaced by Marsch. The American managed to turn things around a bit for them and helped the Peacocks survive the drop.

However, following the West Yorkshire-based club’s defeat against Nottingham Forest in the PL, they are level on points with Everton in 18th. The Elland Road side are also just two points ahead of Southampton, who are in last place.

As for Man United, the current campaign has been a nice surprise. We are firmly in place to finish in the top four at this stage of the season.

After the Red Devils’ defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in the first two games this term, it was hard to envision where the team was heading. Thankfully, Erik ten hag has quickly managed to turn things around.

It remains to be seen who will replace Marsch in Leeds’ dugout. However, it should not matter for the Old Trafford side as we will be hoping to get all points off the Elland Road side.
