Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has been named on the bench for the Carabao Cup second leg against Nottingham Forest

According to Manchester United’s official page via Twitter, Jadon Sancho is back in the Manchester United squad for the Carabao Cup second leg against Nottingham Forest.

Sancho has not been with the team since late October but all the fans who have been patiently waiting could see the tricky winger return to action tonight.

He is named on the bench and although Erik ten Hag has named a strong lineup despite a three-goal advantage, the plan would be to wrap the game up by half-time and use the bench.

It is indeed the perfect time for Sancho to be brought back into the rhythm if things go according to plan in the first half.

Anything is possible in football and Forest certainty would give us a fight irrespective of the huge advantage on our hands and we would have to continue playing lovely football to end the tie as soon as possible.

This would also allow players who have not featured recently like Sancho and Anthony Martial to get some much-needed minutes in their legs.

Sancho was signed from Borussia Dortmund after a long chase which lasted more than two windows and although the winger has not been able to show the exemplary form shown in Germany, everyone is aware of the threat that he possesses once he gets going.

Sancho was actually the goalscorer who started Ten Hag’s reincarnation at Manchester United by scoring a wonderful goal against Liverpool, followed by a goal against Leicester City.

However, the gaffer saw his form getting dipped towards the beginning of October and the player was sent on an individualized training program in the Netherlands to work on his mental and physical fitness.

Ten Hag is wary of the player’s potential and wants to bring the best out of him hence no urgency was shown to bring him back and only when the manager felt that the player is ready, only then he would be thrown into action.

Sancho does look a lot fitter than before and we could potentially find out tonight whether the training programs had a positive impact on the player or not.
