Manchester United offered Saul Niguez and Isco before signing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich
Manchester United were offered Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez and free agent Isco before turning their attention to Bayern Munich star Marcel Sabitzer, according to Sky Sports News on Twitter (h/t Sports Mole).
Apart from the two Spaniards, the Manchester-based club were also given a chance to get a hold of Houssem Aouar. The France international’s current contract with Olympique Lyon expires at the end of the season.
Christian Eriksen was recently injured against Reading in the FA Cup in our last match. The Denmark international will be out for a considerable period, which forced the Red Devils’ hand on deadline day.
In order to bolster the middle of the park, the Old Trafford side had the opportunity to sign a few players. Saul was one of the stars being linked with the club.
The 28-year-old has seen his influence at Los Rojiblancos dwindle over the years. In the previous campaign, the Spain international had an underwhelming spell on loan at Chelsea.
Isco was let go by Sevilla in December of last year. The 30-year-old was close to joining Union Berlin on deadline day, but the move did not end up materialising.
United were also presented with Yannick Carrasco’s signature. The Belgium international has played a key role in Diego Simeone’s team. However, he has not been prolific in the final third this term.
However, the Red Devils have gotten a deal for Sabitzer over the line. The Austria international’s addition will be key, considering the injury issues we have in the engine room.

In the end, the Old Trafford side have gone on to sign a quality star. However, it remains to be seen how the Bayern loanee fits into Erik ten Hag’s plans in Manchester for the rest of the campaign.
