Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United interested in Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu
Manchester United, along with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, are interested in Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Calciomercatoweb.
Spurs have identified the Turkey international as the player they want in the summer of 2023. Antonio Conte wants the 28-year-old as his first signing in the upcoming transfer window.
However, the Red Devils are also eyeing the midfielder. Erik ten Hag is also looking to bolster the engine room with his arrival next summer.
Calhanoglu’s current contract with the Nerazzurri expires in the summer of 2024. However, the Serie A giants are looking to extend his stay at the Italian side until 2026.
Therefore, the Old Trafford side have a battle on their hands to acquire the midfielder’s services. Inter will ask for an important offer to part ways with the Turkey international in the coming months.
Simone Inzaghi’s team have not been at their best in the current campaign. However, the 29-year-old has still impressed many. He has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
Calhanoglu joined Inter after leaving fierce rivals AC Milan in the summer of 2021. Since then, the Turkish national has been a key player for the Nerazzurri, playing in various positions in the middle of the park.
Tottenham evidently lack a creative midfielder. The likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp are all defensive-minded.
