Manchester United will not recall Hannibal Mejbri from Birmingham City loan
Hannibal Mejbri ‘will not be recalled’ from his loan move at Birmingham City by Manchester United in the ongoing transfer window, according to BirminghamLive.
The Tunisia international joined the Blues on loan in the summer of 2022. Since then, the youngster has been handed a lot of opportunities at the Championship outfit.
Against Reading in the FA Cup recently, the Red Devils suffered a setback. While the Old Trafford side won 3-0, Christian Eriksen suffered an injury.
It remains to be seen how long the Denmark international will be out for. But subsequently, Hannibal was being linked with a return to the Manchester-based club in January.
However, the 20-year-old will see out his temporary move at Birmingham. Under John Eustace, the midfielder has made 24 appearances in all competitions, providing four assists.
The Blues are currently struggling in the second tier of English football. However, the Tunisia international has gained valuable experience due to the regular first-team action.
At United, Donny van de Beek is also on the sidelines for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Fred and Scott McTominay are the only two established midfielders on the bench for Erik ten Hag. However, the two have been unable to convince fans of their qualities over the years.
Eriksen has formed a brilliant partnership with Casemiro in the Red Devils’ engine room. The Denmark international and Brazilian have impressed many with their displays at the Old Trafford side. They have been essential to the gaffer’s plans this term.
