Barcelona forward Raphinha being eyed by Manchester United in shock deadline day swoop
Manchester United could make a shock swoop for Barcelona forward Raphinha before the ongoing transfer window commences, according to the Mirror.
The Red Devils are open to letting Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri leave on loan in the coming hours. As a result, the Old Trafford side could opt to pursue the Brazil international.
At the moment, the 26-year-old is finding life difficult in Catalunya. The Blaugrana are looking to free up some funds to acquire the services of Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Therefore, the former Leeds United star could be available.
Raphinha joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from the Peacocks. The Brazilian was impressive during his two-year spell in the Premier League. The forward impressed many with his displays at the West Yorkshire-based club.
The 26-year-old was initially given a lot of opportunities by Xavi. However, in recent weeks, the winger has been pipped by Ousmane Dembele in the pecking order.
Barcelona have a host of attacking talent at their disposal. Robert Lewandowski also made his way to the Camp Nou side last summer. The Blaugrana can also count on Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.
As for United, we signed Antony in the previous transfer window. The 22-year-old has been Erik ten Hag’s first choice on the right wing. Unfortunately, after a fast start, the Brazilian has been underwhelming in recent months.
Jadon Sancho is also capable of being one of the best forwards on his day. However, the England international has been unavailable for some time now. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have been pivotal for the Dutch manager this season.
