Manchester United ‘remain in contact’ with Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries
Manchester United ‘remain in contact’ with Inter Milan star for the signing of Holland international Denzel Dumfries, according to Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Apart from the Red Devils, Chelsea are also in discussions with the Serie A giants to acquire the services of the 26-year-old. The Blues have the likes of Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta in their ranks.
The Old Trafford side have been previously linked with Dumfries’ signature. However, now, the Nerazzurri are looking to get around €50 million to part ways with the Holland international.
In the summer of 2021, Inter signed the 26-year-old from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, the full-back has played a key role for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
In the current campaign, Dumfries has continued to perform well for the Italian outfit. While Napoli are running away with the Scudetto, the Nerazzurri are still fighting for a place in the top four.
The 26-year-old also caught a lot of people’s eyes with his performances in Qatar. Louis van Gaal’s team made it to the quarter-finals. However, the Netherlands were knocked out by eventual champions Argentina.
At the moment, United have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the squad. Erik ten hag has opted for the Portugal international as the first choice in the current campaign.
However, in recent weeks, with the 23-year-old on the sidelines, the former Crystal Palace star has been handed opportunities. The England U21 international has taken his chances admirably and has been a decent backup.

Therefore, considering the depth we have at eight-back, Dumfries does not seem to be a priority. However, one could forgive Wan-Bissaka for wanting to leave the Red Devils in the summer for regular game time. But will the Holland international be his replacement? Only time will tell.
