Wout Weghorst hopes to score many more after first Manchester United goal against Nottingham Forest
Manchester United star Wout Weghorst is hoping to find the back of the net many more times after scoring his first goal for the Red Devils against Nottingham Forest.
The Old Trafford side took on the Tricky Tree on Wednesday (25 January) at the City Ground. We ended up being too much for Steve Cooper’s team, beating them 3-0, with the Holland international getting on the scoresheet.
Speaking after the victory via the club’s official website, the 30-year-old was happy to get off the mark in a red shirt. However, the striker has indicated that this is just the beginning.
“As a striker, you want to score these goals and also this first one. Hopefully, many [more] to come.”
Weghorst joined United on loan in the ongoing transfer window from Burnley. The Holland international made his debut for the Red Devils against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. We drew the match 1-1.
The 30-year-old also started in the 3-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. However, the striker was unable to make a mark in his first two matches.
Weghosrt was signed by the Red Devils to bolster the forward line. Cristiano Ronaldo left the club midway through the season, while Anthony Martial has had fitness issues.

The Holland international has started in our last three fixtures, with the French national being unavailable. Erik ten Hag has been unable to rely on the 27-year-old consistently.
At the City Ground, United got off to a quick start through Marcus Rashford. The 25-year-old has contributed considerably to our attack this season. The loanee from Burnley scored the Red Devils’ second goal.
The Tricky Trees had threatening moments on a number of occasions but were unable to capitalise on them. Bruno Fernandes sealed the victory for us towards the end of the match.
