Manchester United ‘expected’ to make a decision on the future of Anthony Elanga in the coming days
Manchester United are ‘expected’ to make a decision on the future of Anthony Elanga at the Old Trafford side in the coming days, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Everton are monitoring the 20-year-old’s future with the Red Devils. Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his forward line as the Toffees try to survive the drop from the Premier League.
Several other European clubs are also interested in the Sweden international. However, the Manchester-based club are not looking to part ways with the youngster on a permanent basis. Any move sanctioned is likely to be a loan deal.
Elanga broke into United’s first team last season. The 20-year-old played a regular role in the starting lineup under Ralf Rangnick.
However, the Swedish national has found his game time dwindling in the current campaign. He has found minutes on the pitch hard to come by with the arrival of Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils signed Antony in the summer of 2022. He has been a mainstay on the right-hand side of our attack. The Brazilian’s start to life in Manchester was a quick one, scoring in each of his first three Premier League appearances.
Other forwards who were underperforming last season have also found their feet under the former Ajax head coach. Marcus Rashford’s struggles saw him be kept out of the team in the previous campaign.
However, the 25-year-old has been one of our best players this term. Similarly, Anthony Martial has also been decent since Ten Hag’s appointment in the Old Trafford side’s dugout.

Alejandro Garnacho has also shown glimpses of his talent in the current campaign. As a result, Elanga has fallen down the pecking order. Now, with the arrival of Wout Weghorst, it would be wise to let the Swedish national leave and gain experience elsewhere for some time.
