Manchester United are “interested” in Leicester City star Youri Tielemans to bolster the side after the injury sustained by Donny van de Beek.

The Holland international is set to miss the rest of the season after picking up a knee injury against Bournemouth recently. As a result, Erik ten Hag’s options in the middle of the park have dwindled.

Taking to Twitter (h/t Express), Vavel journalist Thomas Alencar revealed that the Red Devils are eyeing the Belgium international. However, the Old Trafford side are yet to table a bid for the 25-year-old.

“United is interested in Tielemans. No proposal yet. The interest comes from the team of scouts and the sporting director of the club. The Belgian is one of the possibilities in January after van de Beek’s injury.”

Tielemans joined the Foxes in the winter window of 2019 from AS Monaco. Over the years, the midfielder has caught a lot of people’s eyes with his performances.

The Belgium international has been one of the best players for the East Midlands club since his move to the King Power Stadium side. However, his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

As a result, the 25-year-old will become a free agent in the summer of 2023. However, it remains to be seen whether Leicester will be willing to cash in on him in the ongoing transfer window.

United are currently alive in all four competitions. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have evidently added much-needed quality to our engine room. However, the season is still long and injuries could become a factor.

Fred and McTominay are the only other two established midfielders in the squad capable of playing in the number six and number eight positions.

Therefore, it seems wise to add more quality in the middle of the park. Tielemans presents a very good opportunity in the market. But will Leicester want to part ways with a key player during their fight for survival in the Premier League? Only time will tell.
