Botafogo make loan enquiry for Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri
According to Globo Esporte (h/t Manchester Evening News), Brazilian club Botafogo have made a formal approach to sign Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri on loan.
Pellistri has struggled for regular minutes at United. He is considered to be very talented and Uruguay rate him very highly but an injury during pre-season meant that the youngster was unable to win over Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch manager did speak glowingly of Pellistri but the youngster needs minutes to develop. A loan move could be the best option for both parties and the Uruguayan will certainly not be short of suitors.
The 21-year-old forward is a regular in his national team already. In a team that is blessed with attackers, to see Pellistri play regularly shows how highly he is rated by his nation and his national team coach.
Pellistri will also want to be at a place where he gets regular minutes. He will know that he can contribute a lot and also develop his game and might be willing to accept a loan move in the January window.
Botafogo have made an offer and are waiting for a response from the Red Devils. However, it is more likely that Man United would want Pellistri to be playing at a higher level and not in the Brazilian league.
The Red Devils are likely to be looking to loan the Uruguayan out to a Premier League club or at best, a club in La Liga or one of the top leagues in Europe. That is where Pellistri will be challenged and made to become a better player.
Erik ten Hag and Man United are likely to vision a future role for Pellistri. He is very talented and will eventually come good. He just needs the right backing and development to unlock the obvious potential that he has.

It remains to be seen what Man United do with Pellistri. They must be looking at options and let’s see how they go.
