Atletico Madrid are closing in on a move for Manchester United target Memphis Depay
According to the Metro, Atletico Madrid are closing in on a move for talented Dutch forward Memphis Depay from Barcelona with Manchester United also interested in the forward.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Depay for quite some time now. He is considered as a player who can really help Man United and be of use to Erik ten Hag due to his versatility and the fact that he offers something different.
Man United are in the need of a forward or two. Depay is a player who is very different from the ones that we have in the squad right now. He knows how to play in a possession system and can play the false nine role well.
Depay has been at Man United in his career before during the management of Louis van Gaal. However, the Dutchman was very young back then and did not have a good time before leaving for Olympique Lyon.
It was at the French club that the Barcelona man really made a name for himself with performances that were unbelievable. He was one of the best players in Ligue 1 during his time and this earned him a move to Barcelona.
Until now, Man United seemed like the only club interested in Depay but Atletico Madrid recently entered the race. They loaned out Joao Felix to Chelsea and have identified the Dutchman as his replacement.
The Spanish club are apparently closing in on a move for the Barcelona forward. If Man United are really keen on signing him, they need to act quickly and get a deal wrapped up as soon as possible or he is likely to go to Madrid.
Depay’s time at Barcelona has not been great. He started off really well but has fallen down the pecking order. He hardly gets game time anymore and Xavi Hernandez might be willing to sell him now.

Let’s see if Man United take advantage of this situation and sign the 28-year-old or let him make the move to Atletico eventually.
