Aaron Wan-Bissaka ‘expected’ to stay at Manchester United in January after impressing Erik ten Hag
Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is ‘expected’ to stay at the Old Trafford side in the ongoing transfer window, according to Chief Football Writer of the Daily Mail, Sami Mokbel, via Deadline Day Live on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
In the current campaign, the 25-year-old has lost his place in the starting lineup. Before the 2022 World Cup break, the only appearance the right-back had for the Red Devils was against Liverpool in the Premier League as a substitute in the final minutes of the 2-1 victory.
However, in recent weeks, Erik ten Hag has had to hand the England U21 international more game time due to Diogo Dalot’s absence. Subsequently, the former Crystal Palace star has impressed the Dutch manager.
Wan-Bissaka joined United in the summer of 2019 from the Selhurst Park side. With the Eagles, the 25-year-old had built up a reputation for himself.
But his stint in Manchester has been underwhelming. While the right-back was regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he was unable to convince some fans. The England U21 international left a lot to be desired in the final third of the pitch.
With the Norwegian head coach’s departure, Wan-Bissaka’s fortunes at the Old Trafford side changed. Ralf Rangnick did not seem to trust the 25-year-old.
As a result, Dalot started getting more opportunities under the interim manager. Although, the Portugal international did not light up the crowd either last season.
However, under Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old has been one of our best players. On the other hand, the former Palace star has fallen down the pecking order and looks to be out of favour.

But United cannot rely on Dalot to play the whole season. We are still alive in all four competitions. Therefore, it would be wise to keep a hold of Wan-Bissaka at least until the end of the campaign. But it remains to be seen what the 25-year-old has in mind regarding his future.
