Zidane Iqbal looking to leave Manchester United on loan in the January transfer window
Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal is looking to leave the Red Devils on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Iraq international wants more competitive game time for the remaining part of the current campaign. As a result, the 19-year-old is looking to further his development elsewhere.
However, coaches at the Old Trafford side believe it will be more beneficial for the midfielder to train with the first team for the rest of the season. Subsequently, the Red Devils will look to send him out on loan in the summer.
Iqbal made his debut for United in December 2021 in the Champions League group stage fixture against BSC Young Boys at home. The 19-year-old replaced Jesse Lingard in the 89th minute of the 1-1 draw.
But the Iraqi has not featured for the senior side since. The youngster has been on the bench a lot under Erik ten Hag. However, he is yet to play in a competitive match since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
During pre-season, Iqbal caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances. The midfielder showed promising talent and potential to be a future star.
Against Charlton Athletic, the 19-year-old had to look on from the bench as Kobbie Mainoo made his debut and started the game. The 17-year-old had a decent outing against the League One outfit.
Currently, Ten Hag can call upon the likes of Casemiro, Christia Eriksen, Fred and Scott McTominay in the middle of the park. As a result, the Dutch manager does not want to tamper with the depth of his squad at the moment.

However, Iqbal seems to not be in the plans of the gaffer for now. Thus, it would be wise to fulfil the 19-year-old’s wishes and secure a temporary move for the midfielder to a suitable club where he will be able to develop further.
