Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag keen to sign Joao Felix this month
Speaking to GiveMeSport as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Erik ten Hag would like to sign talented Portuguese forward Joao Felix this month.
Joao Felix has been linked with a loan move to Man United for quite some time now. Atletico Madrid are said to be willing to send the talented Portuguese forward out on loan and a number of Premier League clubs are interested in him.
One of the most talented players coming out of Portugal in recent times, Felix has not really had a good time in Madrid. He has struggled to adapt to Atletico’s system which has meant that he is unable to show his quality on a regular basis.
Erik ten Hag is said to be pushing for the signing of Felix. He wants to bring another forward to the club and the Portuguese would be the perfect fit. However, his loan will not come cheap for Man United.
Ben Jacobs thinks that the fact that the Avram Glazers have put Man United up for sale might mean that they might not be willing to spend much cash in the transfer windows to sign players that the manager wants.
Here is what the CBS journalist had to say about the Felix situation at Man United and what it would hold.
“We might see some kind of exit strategy for the Glazers and therefore in the January window, they may not want to overspend. Chucking away a big loan fee and chucking away a load of wages and then getting nothing really out of it, if they can’t negotiate an option to buy or an obligation to buy, isn’t necessarily going to satisfy the Glazers on the financial side, even if it’s a signing that ten Hag would absolutely like.”
This update from Jacobs could throw the cat amongst the pigeons for Ten Hag. The Dutchman would love to sign Felix even if it was only on a loan deal as the Atletico Madrid forward would add a lot to the club.
