Manchester United make ‘offer’ for Spain international playing in Germany

Transfer News: Manchester United make ‘offer’ for RB Leipzig and Spain playmaker Dani Olmo

Manchester United have set their sights on RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo and have made an ‘offer’ for the attacking midfielder, according to Spanish outlet Nacional via football365 (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils have tabled a bid to bring the 24-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams. However, Bayern Munich have also launched an offer for the playmaker.

Olmo has been impressive in the Bundesliga for some time now. The Bavarians are currently leading in the league table under the former head coach of Die Roten Bullen, Julian Nagelsmann.

In the winter transfer window of 2021, Barcelona had failed to take Olmo to Camp Nou for £58 million. The Spaniard had spent some time of his youth career with the Blaugrana before moving to Dinamo Zagreb.

After the 24-year-old’s stint with the Croatian outfit, Leipzig came calling. At the Red Bull Arena side, the playmaker has been a regular squad member, but he has had issues with injuries.

Olmo has been key for Spain in the last two major tournaments. The 24-year-old was pivotal for La Furia Roja during their run to the semi-final in Euro 2020. He also started in every game at the 2022 World Cup under Luis Enrique.

The attacking midfielder is a versatile player capable of playing out wide as well. At United, Bruno Fernandes currently occupies the number 10 position.

However, after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, the Red Devils have lost a bit of depth in the forward line. Marcus Rashford has deputed for Anthony Martial as a striker on several occasions this season due to the France international’s unavailability.

Olmo has shown glimpses of his talent at the highest level with Spain for several years. However, whether United will be able to get the 24-year-old for a reasonable price remains to be seen.
