David Moyes reveals “no chance” Declan Rice leaves West Ham United in January amidst Manchester United links
West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed that there was no chance Declan Rice might leave the club in January amidst links to Manchester United.
Other Premier League clubs are also eyeing the 23-year-old’s signature. The England international has developed into one of the finest defensive midfielders over the years.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Moyes, who was once in the Old Trafford side’s dugout for a brief period, has ruled out Rice moving from the Hammers in the upcoming transfer window.
“There will be no chance Declan Rice leaves in this window.”
The 23-year-old has been a regular for the Three Lions for some time now. Since Euro 2020, the midfielder has been a pivotal player for Gareth Southgate.
England were close to getting their hands on silverware at Wembley Stadium but lost to Italy in the final of the European Championship. The West Ham captain was also key for the Three Lions as they reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Rice has established himself as one of the Premier League’s biggest stars. As such, the 23-year-old will evidently hope to get his hands on some silverware at the club level as well.
However, while Moyes’ team were vying for a place in the top four last season, they have been underwhelming in the current campaign. The Irons are currently 16th in the English top flight.
However, Man United recently signed Casemiro to bolster the number six position in the team. The Brazil international has been impressive for the Old Trafford side in the current campaign.
