Liverpool pull out of race for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham amidst Manchester United interest
Premier League rivals Liverpool are ‘pulling out’ of the race for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Spanish outlet AS (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Merseyside outfit will focus on SL Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez instead of the England international. The Argentine recently starred in Qatar as La Albiceleste lifted the 2022 World Cup title.
While Jurgen Klopp’s team are not interested in the 19-year-old anymore, the Red Devils are willing to make another bid for him in the coming future. The BVB star was given a tour of Carrington during his Birmingham City days before joining the Bundesliga outfit.
Bellingham has thrived in Germany since moving there in 2020. The 19-year-old immediately established himself in Dortmund’s starting lineup and has developed into a fine player over the years.
In the current campaign, the midfielder seems to have taken his game to the next level. The England international’s performances this season, especially in the Champions League, have caught many people’s eyes.
Bellingham was also pivotal for the Three Lions in Qatar. The 19-year-old started in every fixture at the 2022 World Cup and scored his first goal in an England shirt against Iran in the group stages. However, Gareth Southgate’s team were beaten by France in the quarter-finals.
The midfielder has also been handed more responsibility at BVB in the current campaign. On a few occasions, Edin Terzic has given the captain’s armband to the youngster.
United’s recent transfer window saw the arrival of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to bolster the middle of the park. The Danish and Brazilian duo have made the engine room their own in a short time. However, they will both turn 31 in February.

Thus, it would be wise for the Red Devils to plan for the future. Bellingham is someone who still has many years at the top in football if he keeps going in the right direction. Hopefully, the Old Trafford side are able to pull off a coup for the 19-year-old’s signature.
