Atletico Madrid want £88 million for Joao Felix amidst interest from Manchester United
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid want £88 million from Portugal star Joao Felix amidst interest from Manchester United, according to ESPN (h/t Express).
However, while the Red Devils are eyeing a forward, the Spanish side’s asking price seems to be too big. Currently, the Old Trafford side only have a budget of less than £30million after our summer spending spree.
We signed a number of talented players in the recent transfer window. Erik ten Hag’s first signing in Manchester was Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. The club then signed Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.
Subsequently, towards the end of the recent transfer window, United bought Casemiro and Antony. We also got Martin Dubravka on loan on deadline day to serve as backup to David de Gea.
Just before the start of the 2022 World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo departed the Red Devils. The Old Trafford side had hoped to keep the 37-year-old until the end of the campaign. However, it was not meant to be.
As a result, the Manchester-based club are now looking for a forward, with Felix one of the names on the shortlist. The club had an eye on him during the Portugal international’s time at Benfica.
The 23-year-old has not had the best of seasons at Atletico. Los Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone does not seem to count on the forward. He has started just five games in La Liga this season.
However, Felix reminded people of his talent in Qatar. The 23-year-old’s displays at the 2022 World Cup were impressive. But Fernando Santos’ team could not make it past the quarter-finals.

Thus, it remains to be seen whether United will make a move for Felix. However, it would be wise to consider other targets if Atletico are adamant about their price tag because the player hasn’t shown that he is worth that amount during his time in Spain.
