Transfer News: Manchester United add Mohammed Kudus to their transfer shortlist

Manchester have added Ajax Amsterdam and Ghana international Mohammed Kudus to their transfer shortlist as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his attack in January, according to The Telegraph (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Ten Hag has already worked with Kudus during his time at Ajax and it is claimed that the Dutch manager likes the โ€˜skill and dynamismโ€™ of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

Kudus has been a regular for his club this season, scoring 10 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions. The midfielder who can also play as a forward was one of the best players for his country at the World Cup in Qatar.

He featured in all their three games and scored two goals in the process, but could not help his side as the Black Stars crashed out of the tournament in the group-stage itself.

United need to add reinforcements up front. Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer at the club, while Anthony Martial has struggled to stay fit. Jadon Sancho has not been at his best while Mason Greenwood is still unavailable.

Marcus Rashford is the only forward who has stepped up for us this season. The winger who can play as a striker too has been one of our best players, scoring eight goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

It is clear a new forward is needed and Kudus make a fine option to have. The 22-year-old can be deployed in multiple positions, allowing the boss to use him as he sees fit. However, the midfielder sees his contract expire in 2025 (transfermarkt), putting the Eredivisie club in a bargaining position.

The Red Devils have also been linked with other forwards like Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos. With the January window less than half a month away, it remains to be seen if a new forward is bought in at the club.
