Club News: Manchester United set to offer a mega deal to forward Marcus Rashford
Manchester United are prepared to offer a whopping £400,000-a-week salary to England international Marcus Rashford to keep at the club, according to the Daily Star (h/t Express).
Rashford sees his current contract expire next summer, although the Red Devils have the option to trigger an extension for another year. The player and club have been in talks, although nothing has come to pass from that so far.
Spanish giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the 25-year-old. Should the youth academy graduate not sign a new deal, the club will seek at least £80 million for his services.
The England international has been one of our best players this season. After seeing a poor last season in front of goal, the forward seems to have found his form. The 25-year-old has played in 19 games in all competitions, scoring eight goals in the process.
He has been used as a centre-forward at times this season, with Anthony Martial struggling to stay fit and Cristiano Ronaldo seeing his contract get terminated. The forward was also one of the best players for the Three Lions at the World Cup in Qatar.
Rashford featured in all five games for his country, scoring three goals in the process. He surprisingly did not start against France in the quarter-finals, which saw the island nation bow out of the tournament after losing the game 2-1.
It will be wise for Erik ten Hag to keep his best forward at the club this season. While the money offered is huge, the player has proved his value to the club over the years and it makes him worth the contract offered.
