Arsenal set to make a new offer for Manchester United target and Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Premier League rivals Arsenal are set to make a new offer for long-term Manchester United target and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports via Metro.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Serbia international for several years. However, the Gunners are looking to pursue his signature once again after failing to bring the midfielder in the recent transfer window.
From the English top flight, Chelsea are also eyeing a move for the 27-year-old. His current contract expires in the summer of 2024 and a new deal does not seem to be in sight.
In January, the Biancocelesti would accept £69 million for Milinkovic-Savic. His price could also drop down to £34–43 million next summer.
The 27-year-old has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A since his move to Rome. Over the years, the Serbian has developed into a quality box-to-box player. This term, he has played 20 games for the Italian outfit in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.
Arsenal are currently flying high. The likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have been impressive for the North London side in the current campaign. However, their bench strength leaves a lot to be desired.
United’s current engine room consists of the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes. The trio have been impressive when they have played together for us.
However, Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have been unable to convince fans of their talent. As a result, the Red Devils seemingly lack depth in the middle of the park.
