Manchester United summer target and France defender Benjamin Pavard wants to leave Bayern Munich

Manchester United summer 2022 target and France star Benjamin Pavard is thinking about leaving Bayern Munich, according to the Metro.

The 26-year-old feels his time with the Bundesliga giants is nearing the end. The defender prefers playing as a centre-back but has primarily been deployed at the right-back position in Bavaria.

Pavard’s current contract with the German outfit expires in around 18 months. As a result, Bayern will need to sell the defender in the near future to get a decent amount for him.

The Bavarians signed Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to bolster their backline in the recent transfer window. As a result, The France international has seen himself fall down the pecking order under Julian Nagelsmann this season.

In the current campaign, the 26-year-old has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants. He has rotated between playing centrally and on the right-hand side of the defence.

Pavard is also part of France’s squad for the 2022 World Cup. However, the defender has not been as influential in Qatar as he was in Russia. The 26-year-old has featured just once for Les Bleus at the prestigious tournament in the Middle East. They will play Argentina in the final in the coming days.

United were interested in the Bayern star in the summer of 2022. However, Erik ten hag views him as a right-back. Diogo Dalot is currently shouldering the burden in that position for the Red Devils.

The Dutch manager has started the Portugal international in a majority of the fixtures this season. However, the former Ajax head coach seems to not have faith in Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Thus, the Old Trafford side evidently need to add support for Dalot. However, it remains to be seen whether Paard will opt for a move to Manchester in the upcoming transfer windows.
