Transfer News: Erik ten Hag admits that Manchester United are searching for a new striker
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has admitted that the club are searching the market for a new striker. This comes after the Red Devils terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract last month.
The Portuguese forward gave a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan last month where he targeted the boss and the Glazer family. Such an interview led to the relationship between the club and the player being on shaky ground before an eventual parting of ways.
Now, there is a vacant position in the squad up front. United currently don’t have any natural striker in their squad, with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford the only two capable of leading the line, but are not natural strikers.

Ten Hag now has provided an update that will excite the United fans. When pressed for a comment on whether a new striker will be bought in January, this is what the Dutchman had to say (h/t Mirror):
“Yes, but only when we find the right player. We will do everything in our power. We are doing research at every opportunity and we will do everything we can [to sign them] if that opportunity is there.”
PSV Eindhoven and The Netherlands international Cody Gakpo is currently the name leading the line for a potential transfer to Old Trafford. The 23-year-old had interest from the club during the summer too, but nothing could materialise as such.
The forward has been in fine form for both club and country. He has made 24 appearances so far in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and registering another 17 assists in the process. The 23-year-old also scored three goals in five games at the World Cup, helping his country reach the quarter-finals.
