Aston Villa to hold talks with agent of Manchester United target Joao Felix
Aston Villa are set to hold talks with Portuguese star Joao Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a possible transfer in January amid interest from Manchester United, according to the Mirror (h/t Birmingham Mail).
The Atletico Madrid forward has been tipped to make a move next month after straining his relationship with manager Diego Simeone. This has seen the 23-year-old mainly be used from the bench.
Felix was one of the better players for his country in this year’s World Cup. The former Benfica star played in four games, scoring one goal and registering another two assists in the process to help them reach the quarter-finals.

Erik ten Hag is in need of adding a striker to his team. With Cristiano Ronaldo seeing his contract terminated and Anthony Martial struggling to stay fit, Marcus Rashford is the only player who can be deployed to lead the line.
Felix, who moved to Atletico for a whopping £113 million in the summer of 2019, has never been able to showcase his true talent at the Madrid-based club. This could be mainly due to the fact that Simeone prefers a defensive set-up rather than playing an attacking line-up.
The young forward showed his class and talent in Qatar when he was deployed in an attacking line-up. Ten Hag also likes to play attacking football and as such the 23-year-old could make a fine addition to the squad.
However, the Red Devils are not alone in their pursuit. Apart from Villa, Newcastle United and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the forward. The 23-year-old sees his current contract expire in 2026 (transfermarkt), putting the Madrid-based club in a comfortable position to negotiate a price of their liking.

United will be wise to contact his agent and discuss a possible move. Atletico will want to recoup as much as possible and the board should be ready to back Tag Hag as such. Just 23, the Portuguese could go on to become one of our best players in the future.
