Juventus set €30 million price tag on Weston McKennie amidst Manchester United interest
Manchester United will have to pay €30 million to Juventus in order to capture the signature of the United States midfielder Weston McKennie, according to Italian publicarion Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail).
Several clubs around Europe are eyeing the 24-year-old’s signing. In the Premier League, the Red Devils, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are interested in him. Borussia Dortmund are also being linked with the USMNT star.
The Bianconeri are currently in financial difficulty following an investigation into their inflated transfer values. As a result, McKennie could even be sold for less than the aforementioned price.
The 24-year-old joined Juventus in the summer of 2021 from Schalke 04. Since then, he has been a regular first-team member of the Italian giants’ squad.
In the current campaign, the Serie A outfit have not been at their best. However, in 16 appearances in all competitions this season, the USMNT star has scored three goals and one assist.
McKennie was impressive for his national side at the 2022 World Cup. Gregg Berhalter’s team made it to the round of 16 in Qatar. However, they fell short against the Netherlands.
United signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the recent transfer window to bolster the engine room. The Danish and Brazilian stars have made an immediate mark in Manchester with their performances.
However, the Red Devils could evidently do with a bit more strength in depth in the middle of the park. Fred and Scott McTominay have been inconsistent in their time at the club. On the other hand, Donny van de Beek has been underwhelming since his arrival from Ajax.
