PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands star Cody Gakpo will deliberate if Manchester United make an offer

The Netherlands star Cody Gakpo will deliberate if he receives an offer to move to Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven in the coming months. The 23-year-old has not been approached by the Red Devils yet though.

The 23-year-old had a chance to make his way to the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2022. However, in the end, the deal fell through. The Holland international also had the opportunity to move to Leeds United but ended up staying in the Eredivisie.

Speaking to Dutch outlet NRC via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Gakpo revealed he would think about an offer from United. For now, the 23-year-old is patient.

“I haven’t heard from Manchester United yet. If they come, I will think about it with God’s help.

“I thought about Man Utd last summer, but when that didn’t happen, I didn’t know anymore. Then Leeds arrived, I had doubts… now I wait and see.”

Gakpo has been in fine form for PSV since last season. However, the 23-year-old has taken his game to the next level in the current campaign.

The Holland international has made 24 appearances for the Red and Whites in all competitions this season. He has found the back of the net 13 times and provided 17 assists.

Gakpo has also been pivotal for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup. The Oranje have made it to the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition. The 23-year-old helped them past the group stages as he scored a goal in every fixture.

United recently lost Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal international left the club mid-way through the campaign. As a result, Erik ten Hag’s options up front have dwindled.

The Red Devils signed Antony in the recent transfer window from Ajax. The Brazilian has had a quick start to life in Manchester. He scored in his first three Premier League appearances for the Old Trafford side.

United also bought Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez from Holland. Considering the success the Dutch manager has had signing players from the Eredivisie, it seems wise to go for Gakpo in the coming transfer windows.
